Walk-In Dance: Belly Dance
A Three Pillars Delsarte based approach to Middle Eastern Belly Dance in the style of award winning performer Shiara. Learn the basic movements of belly dance with a specific focus and detailed exploration each week (listed below). The 8:20pm class will focus on technique, expression and choreography.
Canceled: Rachel Platten concert
The New York-based artist has been climbing various Billboard Charts with her hit single "Fight Song," reaching #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 for Adult Pop Songs thus far. The song is also now Platinum-certified reaching over 1,100,000 sales since its release. Her latest EP release of the same name, Fight Song, is also climbing the Billboard Charts, reaching #20 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums.

Botanical Plaster Imprints Class
Press branches, leaves and other natural objects into clay, then cover with plaster of Paris. Make a set of three tiles, each with a wooden frame so it will be ready to hang as soon as you get home. We will have items from nature for imprints, but students are encouraged to bring in objects that have interesting shapes and texture for experimentation.
Smashed Button Necklace Class
Upcycle vintage buttons and maybe get a little aggression out at the same time! Students will hammer metal buttons into new forms. Add texture and patina and get a collection of beautifully imperfect charms. Stack for depth, rivet together, and add them onto a chain for swanky necklace.

How much do you know of campus history, legend, and lore? Join University Museums for an evening of historic and haunted stories about Iowa State and discover who may be haunting your lecture hall!

Paint Your Own Pottery: Halloween
"Painting" bisque is a fun and relaxing activity that can be done solo or with a group of friends. Choose from a decorative skull or a skull mug. Decorate for Halloween or Day of the Dead. Those in costume get free user fees! Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select.

Craft of the Month: Canvas Quotes
Use vinyl letters to spell out a short quote on one of our retro paintings, or on a canvas you prepare. Add another coat of paint and then peel the lettering off to reveal a peek-through of the original imagery. It's fun, easy, and everyone ends up with a unique piece of artwork.
Photography Workshop
Perfecting the art of composition and lighting to create a beautiful still life image is no easy task. Learn some ideas, tricks and even some hacks for creating your own reflection boards, light boxes, and more. Bring in your digital SLR camera and an object that you would like to photograph at a detail level. Must have basic knowledge of their camera and how to use the settings to take this class.

Jane Gilmor is a storyteller and her distinctive intermedia art installations or performances are how she tells her stories. She began her art career as a student at Iowa State and has gone on to have a significant impact on the arts of Iowa and nationally.

Argentine Tango
This Milonga is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for dancing better. From 5-7pm the dance floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie and working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time. Wear dancing shoes, smooth-soled shoes, or socks.

Seasonal Glass Candle Holder Class
A great introduction to the basics of fused glass and stained glass. First, students will create a winter-themed glass tile that will be fused in the kiln in time for the second class. Practice cutting stained glass and soldering, and you'll be able to construct a glass candle holder incorporating your fused tile.

Live Music: Lazer Lloyd
Blues / rock artist Lazer Lloyd was born in New York and raised in Madison, Connecticut by a musicloving, guitar playing father with an extensive record collection of blues, folk, rock, and jazz. Lloyd's upbringing would lead to a style that incorporated all of these influences into his emotive blues. He was playing lead guitar along the East Coast with his band Legacy by age 15.
