Paper Marbling Demonstration
Charles It Shen Hwang received a Focus Grant this year for a paper marbling project. He will set up shop and hold a workshop and hands-on demonstration. See the techniques and then try them yourself and take home a sample of how floating colors can create images and pattern on paper.
Where Did It All Come From?
Cabinet of Curiosities exhibits wonderfully unique, odd, and bizarre objects from collections across campus. Exhibition Curator Allison Sheridan will talk briefly about how the objects were located, chosen, and placed into our exhibit of curios. She will be joined by Maggie Brandenburg, graduate student in Anthropology, who will talk about the importance of seemingly unusual objects in the study of primatology.

ArtWalk: Take a Ride on the Dinky
Did you know that students and faculty once commuted from downtown Ames to central campus on the Dinky rail train? Join University Museums as we trace a portion of the Dinky's tracks from Agronomy Hall to Morrill Hall. Climb aboard as we examine and discuss the works of art that the Dinky passengers would enjoy if they took that same trip today. Meet the docent at Janus Agri-Altar in the south courtyard of Agronomy Hall.
Artful yoga
Build strength, endurance, and balance in a yoga class that will leave you feeling relaxed and centered. Behind all of those sore muscles you may find patience, peace, and a stronger mind/body connection. No yoga experience is necessary, but please bring your own mat. 50 Shades of Christian … Petersen
Christian Petersen's sculpture caused controversy when he was working on campus in the 1940s. From topless women to bare-chested men, some of Petersen's sculptures were considered risque and inappropriate. Join Lynette Pohlman, director and chief curator, to get a better understanding of Petersen's motivation behind these works of art and see what made them so controversial.

Performance: Fiddler on the Roof
Tevye, his wife, and five daughters live in Tsarist Russia. He hopes to find fine husbands for each of his girls, men who will follow the Jewish faith and earn enough to made a comfortable life, but each young woman wants to make her own choice. Tevye finds himself placed in precarious position between the tradition he follows and the new ways his daughters accept. A universal story of love, hope, and acceptance.

Little Dresses for Africa Work Weekend
Simple dresses made out of pillowcases provide relief and hope for the children of Africa. We will provide the supplies, but can use the hands of volunteers to assist with making the dresses

The Dear Hunter
The Dear Hunter began as a side project of Casey Crescenzo when he was full time member of the Boston, Mass., band The Receiving End of Sirens. It was originally intended as a vehicle for music Casey had written that didn't fit with the heavier sound of The Receiving End of Sirens.
