Craft of the Month: Photo Holders
Use paint, decoupage techniques and Washi tape to decorate a wood plaque with a clip for displaying your favorite photo.
Walk-In Craft: Fine Silver Pendant
Create a fine silver pendant without traditional metalworking techniques - no jewelry saw, soldering or endless filing! Use metal clay and a mold to make your pendant. We will then use a small torch to fire your work in just a few minutes. When you are done, you'll have a work of art that is 99.9% pure silver.
Drawing Class
Take this opportunity to learn and develop drawing skills, whether you are a beginner who likes to doodle or an artist with experience. Students will be guided through a variety of exercises to enhance your drawing techniques including: line, perspective, light/shadow, and composition, while developing hand-eye coordination and confidence.

Meet "Screechy," a live Eastern Screech Owl who will be visiting The Workspace courtesy of the ISU Wildlife Care Clinic. Tai Chi Class
The class is an introduction to the Yang Style Short Form as taught by Cheng Man-Ch'ing. Learning and doing the Form's movements refresh the spirit and improve balance, posture, flexibility, attitude, confidence and overall health and well-being. Students will also learn some Qigong health exercises. Lloyd has been studying and practicing Yang Style Tai Chi for two decades.

Woodshop Orientation
For the beginner who wants to learn the fundamentals of woodworking equipment. Proper usage of the machinery will be covered, as well as woodshop safety. This class is required in order to use the woodshop on your own.
Macrame Class
Sailors started it, hippies picked it up and The Workspace is bringin' it back! Learn the knots and hitches to create a retro plant hanger. Then, downsize and use the knotting forms to create an earthy bracelet with added beads.

A Three Pillars Delsarte based approach to Middle Eastern Belly Dance in the style of award winning performer Shiara. Learn the basic movements of belly dance with a specific focus and detailed exploration each week (listed below). The 8:20pm class will focus on technique, expression and choreography.

Shibori Dyed Cyclone Scarf Class
Use natural, plant-based dyes to create a wearable work of art! We will be using madder and kamala dyes to create vibrant cardinal and gold scarves. Traditional Shibori tying and tie-dye techniques will be used to create interesting patterns in the fabric. We will also have a discussion on preparing and working with natural dyes.
Walk-In Craft: Paper Animal Silhouettes
Create wall art that is fun, original and packed with color! Glue rolled magazine pages to a silhouette of your favorite furry friend. After some trimming and finishing touches, attach the artwork to a wood board so it is ready to hang on your wall. An easy craft and great way to de-stress!

Digital Photography Class
Long shots and short shots: everyone wants to take a good photograph. Learn the basics of using your digital SLR camera including settings, speeds, lighting and composition. Students will explore campus to use their new skills shooting photographs of their favorite sites and share those photographs to discuss technique, composition and design.

Make a comfortable outdoor chair just in time for fall fire pit season. Students will learn to follow a pattern and safely use wood shop tools including the table saw, drill press, sander and hand tools. Amigurumi Crochet Workshop
Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting small animals or creatures. The projects are super cute, fun to make, and all you need to know is basic crochet stitches to start. Come make your own stuffed creature and learn the basics of shaping, construction, and finishing. These projects can be turned into anything from keychains to cat toys, and there will be plenty of patterns to choose from.

Create temporary body art with henna. Bring a friend and "tattoo" each other, or draw designs on your own skin. Sample designs are available for inspiration, along with tips and tricks for best application methods. Walk in anytime but give yourself about half an hour to finish.
