Public hearing: Regents' agenda
At this public hearing, individuals have an opportunity to provide early input on agenda items for the state Board of Regents Feb. 4-5 p.m. meeting in Cedar Falls.
Workshop: Python
No programming or UNIX background is required, but knowledge of UNIX may be helpful. The workshop is intended to provide a fundamental understanding of the Python programming language for practical use in research including building algorithms, Python syntax, conditionals, loops, functions and more.

Collecting Petersen
For 40 years, University Museums has worked to make sure Iowa State has the largest and most significant collection of works of art created by Petersen and we are adding more to the collection every year. Colloquium: Iowa State University in Lima, Peru
This colloquium will help inform students and faculty members at Iowa State about opportunities for collaboration with designers and design students in Lima, Peru. Presenters will be Clare Cardinal-Pett, ISU associate professor of architecture; Marwan Ghandour, professor of architecture and director of the Master of Urban Design graduate program; Max Viatori, associate professor of anthropology, and Cristina Dreifuss, director of INTUY Lab, Lima.

CEAH Fellowship: The Literary Aftershocks of the New Madrid Earthquakes
Matthew Sivils, CEAH fellow, will discuss the cultural reverberations of the New Madrid Earthquakes of 1811-1812, one of the most powerful natural disasters to strike North America in recorded history. He will examine how the fictionalization of such a cataclysm in early American fiction served as an indicator of growing environmental anxiety among Americans as the nation moved away from its agricultural origins.
Sea Glass Jewelry Class
Learn wire wrapping jewelry techniques using faux sea glass as the focus. First, bind glass to a copper cuff. Then, wrap silver wire around a glass gem to make a funky ring. Home-made sea glass will be made in advance of class to save time, but the process will be reviewed for students for those interested in doing it on their own.
