Active Listening and Effective Communication
Identify barriers to effective communication, explore personal communication styles and learn how to apply five key principles of effective listening. The workshop utilizes a wide variety of facilitation approaches, including lecture, group exercises and discussion, case scenarios and skill-building tools for success that can be put to work long after the course ends. 17th Annual Lavender Graduation & Awards Ceremony
Lavender Graduation is one of the many special traditions at Iowa State University. National Public Gardens Day
We will kick off the event with guided tours and a free seedling giveaway in honor of National Public Gardens Day. Reiman Gardens is proud to join public gardens across the country to celebrate National Public Gardens Day annually on the Friday before Mother's Day.
Spring Fling
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 9, 10, and 11 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Celebrate spring and early season color in the Gardens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 9-11. The three-day event includes guided tours, special admission offers, a free seedling giveaway, youth activities and more!

Art Mart Sale
The annual sale of artwork from The Workspace and The Gaffers' Guild. This is the reschedule date from the VEISHEA cancellation and is just in time for graduation and Mother's Day. Also Saturday from 10am - 3pm.
Presentation: Presidential Initiative for Interdisciplinary Research
Research teams working on projects that could lead to major advances and discoveries will talk about their progress. President Steven Leath will host the event.
Reception: On Air '14 Degree Show (Industrial Design Seniors)
Opening reception and celebratory event for exhibition of work by seniors in the Bachelor of Industrial Design program created in the spring 2014 INDD 499 Senior Project class. Students chose their own topics based on areas of interest or future career plans; projects including furniture, smart-device applications, medical products, footwear, toys, and transportation will be on display. The show will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 10-12.
Dance social
Free dance social hosted by the ISU Ballroom Dance Club. Singles welcome. Dress is casual; indoor shoes or socks are required.

Story County Master Gardener's Association Plant Sale
A large selection of house plants, nursery stock plants, annuals, hanging baskets, and perennial divisions - many from the gardens of Master Gardeners- will be for sale.

Walk across the parking lot to the Alumni Center immediately following commencement for a reception for graduates and their families and friends. The reception will include refreshments, photo opportunities, tours of the Alumni Center and merchandise for purchase.

Mother's Day
In honor of Mother's Day, all mothers will receive free admission to the Gardens. The first 100 mothers will also receive a special cut flower with admission. A special youth activity station in honor of Mother's Day will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
