This course will cover both handbuilding and move into beginning wheel throwing by the end. Surface decoration and glazing techniques will be explored for a thorough introduction to the medium of clay.

Henna, or mehndi, has been used to adorn women's bodies for centuries, traditionally for social and religious celebrations such as weddings. Learn how to create traditional designs as well as how to properly mix and create the paste used to produce henna tattoos.
Screenprinting with Asa Wentzel Fisher
Learn an inexpensive way to create custom t-shirts. Using your own design, learn to make a screen with the photographic emulsion method. Bring in your shirts and print away! This class is required in order to use the Workspace screenprinting equipment on your own.

Farewell reception: Susan Carlson
A farewell reception for Susan Carlson, ISU associate provost for faculty advancement and diversity. Carlson is leaving to become vice provost for academic personnel in the University of California system. A short program will begin at 4:30 p.m.

PMC looks and feels like clay, and after firing, it is 99.9% pure silver. Use techniques such as sculpting, stamping and carving to create a pendant while learning how to work with this fun medium.
Felted Beads with Annihka Murray
Learn to use a wet felting technique to create uniquely colorful and textured beads perfect for jewelry. The first class we will make a variety of beads and the second class we will incorporate findings to create earrings or a necklace.

Cigar Box Guitars were important in the rise of Jug Bands and the Blues. Eimer will guide you through the fabrication keeping in mind the musical elements that will make it tunable. Leave with a playable, great looking guitar with a maple neck. No previous woodshop experience is necessary.
Wheel Pottery with Greg Lamont
A multi-level class for both beginners and those with basic experience. Greg has been teaching at the Workspace for many years and is excellent in technical instruction and functional ware. Students will be guided through all aspects of forming bowls, mugs, vases and more on the pottery wheel. Learn hand-pulling, glazing and finishing techniques.
