Long-time journalist and political activist Bill Kunerth will be remembered by friends and foes alike. Kunerth taught journalism at Iowa State for 31 years (1957-88) and continued to live in Ames until 2004. He was a champion of the First Amendment and fought to ensure that universities and state agencies abided by the Iowa open meetings and records laws.
