Compassion Fatigue: Managing the Journey
Many people work in a care-giving setting and/or perform care-giving tasks for others on a regular basis and often don't realize how the repetitive stress affects them. Caring too much can seem overwhelming, leaving us feeling drained and helpless. While the effects of Compassion Fatigue can cause chronic and cumulative stress, learning to recognize and manage symptoms is the first step to managing and maintaining our health.

A barrier in many courses is getting students to see personal relevance in the course material. The session will describe how customized video-based modules and engaging application assignments have been integrated through Blackboard to create a more personalized learning environment for students enrolled in an online fitness education course (KIN 210 - Concepts of Fitness and Wellness).

Sarah Nusser, vice president for research, is seeking campus input and suggestions for improving research support. Researchers and staff are invited to provide feedback and share ideas. Linguistics researchers who analyze academic discipline-specific language vs. actual writing practices and training for students in those disciplines will present. The intent is to improve pedagogy of writing in STEM disciplines. Faculty and students are invited.
