"Sialic Acids as Determinants of Self," James Paulson, acting President and CEO of The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California. Paulson researches the roles of glycan binding proteins in the modulation of immune cell signaling, and the receptor specificity of influenza viruses. A reception precedes his seminar at 3:45 pm.

Gardens & Villa is the project of five college friends, formed following the collapse of a noisier post-punk band and a hitch-hiking journey up the west coast. The band began playing in 2008, taking their name from their house on Villa Street, and the property's lovely garden to which they tended. They're touring in support of their recent sophomore release, Dunes.
