Town hall: Role of the chief diversity officer
The committee searching for ISU's chief diversity officer seeks input on the role of the diversity officer. The committee will use ideas collected through a series of town hall meetings to develop a job description.

James Dorsett, director of the international students and scholars office, is leaving Iowa State after nine years of service. A program will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Jeff Steely, associate dean of libraries at Baylor University, is one of four finalists for Iowa State's library dean post.
Lecture: Who Has the Right to the City? Design and Public Space in Contemporary Citites
Prague-based architect and educator Osamu Okamura, program director of the reSITE international festival in Prague, will address the state of urban planning in Central and Eastern Europe and highlight some of the emerging platforms--like reSITE--for designers to effect change through society, the media and public administration. Oil Painting Class
Become comfortable using oil paint, and gain confidence in color mixing, composition, and paint application. It is meant for both beginners who have never painted before and more experienced painters who would like to try a new perspective and get a chance to paint with others. Students will share supplies.

A Three Pillars Delsarte based approach to Middle Eastern Belly Dance in the style of award winning performer Shiara. This class teaches the basic movements of belly dance with a specific focus and detailed exploration each week. Walk-ins welcome!
CEAH Fellowship: The Roots of American Environmentalism
Matthew Sivils, CEAH fellow, will provide a brief overview of the texts of some of the most influential 18th and 19th century naturalist-explorers, such as Mark Catesby, Alexander Wilson and John James Audubon. The program will be followed by a viewing of rare natural history volumes housed in Special Collections.

Carter recently finished a successful North American tour performing songs he made famous during the past 15 years.

"Vaccine Studies to Mitigate Influenza in a Pig Model," Dr. Renukaradhya Gourapura, Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, Ohio State University, Wooster, Ohio. Gourapura will discuss the strategies developed to increase the likelihood of cross-protective efficacy of candidate inactivated virus vaccines in a pig model. Design Corps founder Bryan Bell will offer examples of successful projects and best practices in public interest design--a rapidly growing field that encompasses work often called community design, social design, humanitarian design and pro bono design--and propose ways to maximize the public value of design. This is a 6 week course on Mondays March 23, March 30, April 6, April 13, April 20, & April 27 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Learn how to use plants as the subject of art with easy approaches & successive lessons. Learn from artist Megan Henson as you draw from flowers & plants in the classroom, the Hughes Conservatory, & even get inspired by those early spring blooms in outside. Use your drawings for nature journals, hand-made cards, & more.

Feminist Embroidery Class
Celebrate Women's History Month by turning inspiring words into stitched art. Needlework has moved from early samplers and quilting decoration to embellished clothing in the 70's to modern themes by DIY "makers" of today. Use one of our quotes, or bring in your own ideas and learn a couple basic stitches. Finished quotes can be hung in the provided hoops or stitched onto another project. All genders welcome.
