Soil Health Conference
This conference is a collaborative effort between ISU Extension and Outreach, and the USDA, Natural Resource Conservation Service. The goal of this conference is to increase awareness and understanding of soil health as pivotal to sustainable agriculture and environmental quality in Iowa and the Midwest.
Panel Discussion: Iowa Caucuses 2016
"Iowa Caucuses 2016: What happened and What's Next?" Panelists include Steffen Schmidt, ISU political science; Dianne Bystrom, Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women in Politics; and David Andersen, ISU political science. The panel will analyze the results of caucus night and project the implications for the 2016 campaign season for democrats and republicans.
Retirement reception: Jeanette La Grange
Jeanette La Grange has served the university since 1981, including 30 years as secretary and receptionist in the statistics department.

SUB Comedy Night w/ Soloman Georgio
Solomon Georgio burst out of the Seattle comedy scene with his own brand of indignant irreverence. He flawlessly intertwines biting social commentary with stories of his life as an openly gay African immigrant. He is a finalist of NBC's Stand Up for Diversity, a regular performer at the Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival (Seattle, WA) and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival (Portland, OR).

Public forum: VP for student affairs
Martino Harmon, associate vice president for student affairs, Iowa State University, is among three finalists for Iowa State's senior vice president for student affairs post.
Living Building Challenge 3.0: Daniel Huard
Daniel Huard, a sustainable design and regenerative development specialist, will talk about the Living Building Challenge 3.0, which calls for the creation of building projects that operate "as elegantly and efficiently as a flower" based on seven performance categories called "petals."
Football: Signing day celebration
Iowa State head football coach Matt Campbell and his staff will introduce the 2016 class and each position coach will breakdown the recruits. Current Cyclone stars on the gridiron also will be in attendance. Appetizers and a cash bar with be provided. Capacity limit is 2,000.

VPR Workshop: Updates, Initiatives, and Challenges at the National Science Foundation
Dr. Roger Wakimoto, program director at the Geosciences Directorate of the National Science Foundation (NSF), will discuss new NSF-wide initiatives for FY16, recent challenges working with Congress, the broader impacts criteria, reliability and reproducibility of scientific results, and updates regarding the Geosciences Directorate. The seminar is free and open to the public. No preregistration is required.
Lecture: Finding Your Path in the Shifting Scientific Workforce
Kendall Powell discusses the tough realities and statistics facing students and postdocs as they enter the scientific workforce and, specifically, the evolution of postdoctoral scholars in the United States.
Portal to the Public Information Session and Volunteer Training
This free training will introduce Reiman Gardens' involvement in Portal to the Public, a national network of informal science education (ISE) institutions whose goal is to bring the work of local scientists to the general public.

Screening of "The Homestretch," which follows three homeless teens as they fight to stay in school, graduate, and make the crucial transition to independence when the structure of school vanishes.
