Design Expo: Mechanical engineering
The expo highlights the work of mechanical engineering students in sophomore and senior design courses. Sophomores projects focus on societal needs in developing economies; senior teams are matched with industry sponsors or outreach partners to develop solutions for real-world design problems.

Presentation: Campanile-Carillon model
Mechanical engineering student project teams will present the plans for a 1:5 working replica of the campanile and 27-bell carillon. Once completed, the portable model will be used at events and programs, and serve as an educational tool. Interdisciplinary teams in Design, Engineering and music will build the model over the next two years.

CODAC Spring Art Sale
The CODAC (College of Design Art Club) annual spring sale of artwork by students in the integrated studio arts/integrated visual arts programs will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, April 27-29, outside the College of Design Dean's Office. Most of the proceeds go directly to the student artists, while the rest help fund club activities.

College of Human Sciences dean Pam White is retiring this summer after more than 40 years of service to Iowa State. A short program will begin at 4 p.m.

Performance: The Birds
Two Athenians guided by a crow and a jackdaw leave their city and all its arguments in order to look for a better life. This is the start of an idea one of them eventually has--that birds were the original gods and should build themselves a great city between heaven and earth. The nightingale calls the birds of the world who begin to assemble and start building that city in the sky. Actors as well as puppets will be used in this new adaptation.

Retirement reception: Jay-Lin Jane
Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and Life Sciences Jay-Lin Jane is retiring from the food science and human nutrition department. A program will begin at 3 p.m.

Iowa State vs. Oklahoma. With strong chances of rain on Saturday and Sunday, the Cyclones and Sooners will now play a double-header on Friday (2 and 4 p.m.) The final game of the series is set for Saturday at noon.

Concert: Michael Londra, opera
Irish tenor Michael Londra is known internationally for singing traditional Irish music. The evening will include Londra's renowned rendition of "Danny Boy" and also musicians playing fiddles, uillean pipes and bodhran drums to accompany him.
