Veterans Day Open House
11 Nov 2009, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM @ Christian Petersen Art Museum, 0003 Morrill Hall - The wars of the 20th century, their losses and their toll on humanity are a frequent and important theme in the work of Christian Petersen. Though he is often known as "the gentle sculptor," Petersen gave much attention to the subject of warfare. In honor of Veteran's Day and all military veterans, University Museums will be giving tours of the exhibition "All the Evils: Christian Petersen and the Art of War." Cost: Free.
P&S Council open forum: Employee benefits

Workshop: Smart investing

Brown Auditorium, Ames Public Library - "Smart Investing @ your library: Considerations in the aftermath of the recession," Jeanne Hogarth, national consumer finance expert and 2009-10 Hilton Chair. Hogarth will lead this free financial education class. She will describe a process for re-evaluating progress toward funding financial goals. Cost: free.
YWCA: A Taste of Chocolate and More
11 Nov 2009, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ The Knoll - "Just Desserts: A Taste of Chocolate and More." ISU President Gregory Geoffroy and Kathy Geoffroy will host this dessert-laden evening. Local restaurants and chocolatiers will provide a wide range of items, including sugar-free options. All proceeds go toward YWCA Ames-ISU scholarships and programming to empower women and girls, and to eliminate racism. Cost: $35 ($50 for two); please purchase by Nov. 6.
