Opening Weekend of "Nature Connects" Sculptures Built with LEGO® Bricks
Enjoy a day at the Gardens and see 27 amazing sculptures built from 500,000 LEGO® bricks throughout the grounds as part of the "Nature Connects" show.
SCAVMA Scamper 5K/10K
SCAVMA Scamper is an annual 5K/10K (run or walk) open to everyone. Runners are encouraged to bring and race with their dogs. The proceeds go to the ISU Veterinary College's Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association to support student involvement and raise community awareness about the OneHealth mission which ties together human and animal medicine. Prizes awarded.
"Little Dresses for Africa" Work Day
Simple dresses made out of pillowcases provide relief and hope for the children of Africa. We will provide the supplies, but can use the hands of volunteers to assist with making the dresses.
K-12 Computational Thinking Competition
Students will demonstrate a project that shows their understanding of computational thinking, either with a computer or without one. Prizes for three divisions - elementary, middle school, high school - will be awarded, including laptop computers, netbooks, and iPods.
Football: Spring game
Annual intrasquad game played at the conclusion of spring practices.
Cyclone Cinema: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
A nine-year-old amateur inventor, Francophile, and pacifist searches New York City for the lock that matches a mysterious key left behind by his father, who died in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Another showing at 10pm.
The Fashion Show 2012
The Fashion Show is an annual student-run event, showcasing the work of student designers and models. Tickets can be purchased at Stephen's Auditorium box office, or through any Ticketmaster outlet.
Stars Over Veishea: RENT
Stars over Veishea musical production of RENT. The story of a group of eight friends who are impoverished young artists and musicians, struggling to create and survive under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The musical first opened on Broadway in 1996, ran for 12 years, and won a Pulitzer Prize.
SUB Music: Darrell Scott
Widely respected throughout the songwriting community, Scott has worked with numerous world-renowned musicians, including Steve Earle, Joan Baez, Guy Clark and Jimmie Dale Gilmore.
