I will discuss the magnetic properties of recently discovered iron pnictides using band structure point of view. Topics are following:
1. Itinerant or localized?
2. Formation of magnetism in iron pnictides: what is a key?
3. The energetics of magnetic excitations: spin waves, Landau damping, longitudinal fluctuations and their energy scales.
4. The comparison of density functional calculations and the experimental results (neutron scattering).
