"Issues in the Application of Latent Class Models for Survey Evaluation: An Agenda for Future Research", Paul P. Biemer, RTI International and University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
Weights are important in many areas of statistics, particularly in surveys and in model-fitting algorithms. They are not often used in graphical displays, although it is easy to incorporate weights in most standard displays, especially area ones, and they add considerable flexibility and exploratory power. Interpretation of weighted displays is not always easy, though difficulties in interpretation apply to all graphics. With weighted displays the main problem arises in taking proper account of what kinds of weights are being used.

This paper discusses weighting and weighted graphical displays in general. It describes how weighted displays can be used both statically and interactively.
