Prof. Ruslan Prozorov (Iowa State University and Ames Laboratory, US DOE)

I will summarize the available experimental studies of the London penetration depth in iron-based superconductors. While the literature is already full of comparisons with known single- and multi-gap nodeless (e.g., MgB2), as well as nodal (e.g., cuprates) superconductors, it seems that the pnictides occupy their own niche of unconventionality. A three-dimensional, doping -dependent electronic structure and strong pair-breaking effects are among some of the important features that must be taken into account to describe the observed behavior of these fascinating materials.
