Orthorhombic to tetragonal structural transition in parent and underdoped compositions of AFe2As2 family of compounds is accompanied by formation of structural domains. In the talk I will discuss evolution of domain patterns in the parent compounds of A=Ca, Sr and Ba as a function of temperature, as found in the polarized microscope images. Effect of domains on the critical current in the superconducting compositions and electrical resistivity in the normal state will be discussed in connection with realization of single domain state of the samples.
