We investigate charmonium production in the hot and dense medium created in heavy-ion collisions. We employ a Boltzmann-transport equation approach accounting for both in-medium dissociation (due to the color-Debye screening) and regeneration (through the coalescence from charm quarks) of charmonia. The in-medium masses and binding energies of charmonia are deduced from lattice-QCD calculations via a (T-matrix) potential model. The numerical results are compared with experimental data at CERN SPS and BNL RHIC.
