ISU Wind Ensemble to Perform Concert on Sunday, September 25

The Iowa State University Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Michael Golemo, will present a patriotic concert on Sunday, September 25 at 3:00 pm in the Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall.

Selections to be performed include: "American Overture for Band" by Joseph Willcox Jenkins, "Hymn for the Lost and the Living (A 9/11 Tribute) by Eric Ewazen; and "Solid Men to the Front" by John Philip Sousa.

Additionally, the Wind Ensemble will perform the Iowa premiere of "Concerto for Clarinet and Concert Band" by Frank Ticheli. This three-movement work will feature internationally-renowned clarinetist Hakan Rosengren. Each of the three movements is dedicated to an American composer: George Gershwin, Aaron, Copland, and Leonard Bernstein.

According to Michael Golemo, Director of Bands, "This should be a very special concert. We are thrilled to have Hakan Rosengren join us for this concert. He is one of the world's greatest clarinetists and this will be a real highlight of our concert."

Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for students, and are available from the Department of Music Office or at the door.
