Dr. Enrico Lunghi, Indiana University

I present a critical review of the present status of CP violation studies. Within the SM, all CP violation is described by the single unitary Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix. Global fits to the 4 parameters of the CKM matrix point towards a discrepancy at more than 3 sigma level. In the second part of the talk I show evidence in favor of interpreting this tension in terms of new physics in B mixing and extract the effective new physics scale. Finally I present an outlook of what we can expect in the next few years.
