"Glyphosate Interactions Beyond Weed Control: Current State of Knowledge," Robert J. Kremer, USDA-ARS and the University of Missouri, Columbia. A reception will follow the lecture in the Agronomy Hall Commons. This is the 22nd annual David W. Staniforth Memorial Lecture.

The 22nd annual David W. Staniforth Memorial Lecture will be presented by Dr. Robert J. Kremer. Dr. Kremer is a microbiologist with the USDA-ARS, Cropping Systems and Water Quality Research Unit and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Soil, Environmental and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Missouri, Columbia.

Kremer's research focuses on the relationship among soil properties, plant growth and soil microorganisms as influenced by land management practices. Management under sustainable (agroforestry, cover cropping, organic), conventional agriculture (including genetically-modified crops) and grassland restoration systems are assessed for effects on soil quality using microbial, chemical and physical parameters as indicators. Kremer's research also examines soil microbial properties with beneficial and detrimental effects on plant growth, including weed biological control potential.

Kremer has served as an associate editor of Weed Science and Weed Technology, abstracts editor of Weed Science Society of America and a guest editor of the European Journal of Agronomy - Special Issue. He currently serves on several editorial boards including the Journal of Plant Nutrition and the International Journal of Agronomy. Kremer has authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers in highly recognized journals, written 14 book chapters and co-authored the book Principles in Weed Management. He is well respected nationally and internationally having given more than 60 invited presentations. Kremer has received numerous professional awards including the Distinguished Service Award from the USDA-ARS and Distinguished Research Achievement Award, North Central Weed Science Society. He was recognized by the Weed Science Society of America with the Outstanding Paper in Weed Technology Award. Kremer is a member of many professional organizations and is a Fellow of the American Society of Agronomy and Weed Science Society of America.
