At this one-day summit, cosponsored by the ISU Department of Community & Regional Planning and the Iowa Finance Authority, CRP faculty and staff will present findings from an ongoing study of local housing trust funds (LHTFs) in Iowa. They will provide an overview of the funds' daily operations and highlight practices that can improve the impact of the funds on the availability of affordable housing across the state.

Using information gathered from in-depth interviews with trust fund administrators, the study explores how local trust funds operate on a day-to-day basis. The purpose is to provide an overview of Iowa's housing trust funds from the perspective of the people who do on-the-ground administration of the program as well as to highlight practices that can improve the impact of the fund on the availability of affordable housing across the state.

The summit also is intended to allow trust fund administrators and other parties with an interest in affordable housing to network, exchange information and share best practices with one another.

Mary Brooks, director of the Housing Trust Fund Project of the Center for Community Change in Washington, D.C. will present the luncheon keynote address.

The summit is being held the day before the annual HousingIowa Conference in Des Moines.
