Mahlon Darlington, professor of music, is retiring after 36 years of service to the music department and Iowa State University. A short program will begin at 4 p.m.

Darlington came to Iowa State in 1976 from Grinnell College, where he was artist in residence and a member of the Manhattan Quartet. He is professor of music for violin and viola, and is a founding member of the Ames Piano Quartet, the resident chamber music ensemble at Iowa State.
