"Engaging Your Students in STEM with Technology Using Models," with Rob Klienow and Les Miller. In this two-day workshop, participants will gain an understanding of how to use modeling with current concepts, regardless of content area. The Scratch program, designed by MIT, will be the primary tool used.

After the basics and examples have been covered, the attendees will be divided into small groups to spend time developing models that can be used in the classroom in all subject areas. Scratch(tm) models can be created by students to demonstrate conceptual understanding. Scratch can also be used by teachers to model core concepts. The course will be closely aligned with the Science and Engineering Practices of the Next Generations Science Standards, all Iowa Core Curricular areas, and state STEM goals.
