The recent discovery of a new boson near 125 GeV at the LHC has been the most exciting result from the collider so far. I will present an overview of the CMS Higgs boson searches, with special emphasis on the H > WW > l nu jj final state. The overview will also include the 2 photon and 4 lepton final states. The discovery of the new state opens the door for its study to hopefully confirm it as the Higgs boson.
