Delfeayo Marsalis comes from the famous Marsalis family of jazz musicians: father Ellis Marsalis (piano), and brothers Branford Marsalis (saxophone), Wynton Marsalis (trumpet), and Jason Marsalis (drum set).

Delfeayo is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and in 2004 received a MA in jazz performance from the University of Louisville. A highly skilled trombonist, Marsalis is also known in the jazz community as an innovative producer who helped redefine the way jazz music is recorded in the 1980s. He's toured with Ray Charles, Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, and Abdullah Ibrahim and has recorded 5 albums.
