Mother, a 60 minute film, breaks a 40-year taboo by bringing to light an issue that silently fuels our most pressing environmental, humanitarian and social crises - population growth. It is a critical time to talk about this subject because, as of 2011, the world's population has now reached seven billion.

Following the film screening will be a panel discussion and open forum. The film highlights many of the global issues that our planet is currently facing, including gender inequity, poor access to health services, rapid population growth, and environmental destruction.

This film is purposely interdisciplinary, so applies to a variety of departments and student groups on campus who are committed to finding a balance between our planet's resources and its 7 billion inhabitants. By attending this film, you are sparking new discussions on our planet's future and promoting social change.
