Abstract:
Many software systems are feature-rich and long-living. Improving the dependability of those systems requires addressing a number of challenges, four of which will be highlighted in this talk. First, it is important to ensure individual features in isolation behave according user expectation. Second, when put together, the features need to behave well together. Third, when the requirement for a feature evolves, the impact of change should be isolated and addressed in a modular way. Fourth, when features fail to meet user expectation, lessons are learnt in order that similar kinds of errors are avoided in future. This talk will present some progress in addressing the four challenges.
Bio:
Thein Than Tun is a Research Associate in the Computing Department of the Open University, UK. He is interested in Requirements Engineering approaches, and their application in the development of feature-rich and secure software systems. His research is related to requirements evolution, feature interaction, feature modelling, failures of dependable systems, and argumentation for security.
