The wonderment of extra-terrestrial life has captivated the minds of many people. The viking project on Mars searched for organic compounds, and a recent reevaluation of their results has led to some interesting conclusions. I will examine the implications of these findings and how this reflects with our understanding of biochemical processes in some known terrestrial microorganisms.
