This is an opportunity for for the public and stakeholders to ask questions and learn more about the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy, which was announced by Gov. Branstad in November. Public meetings also will be held Dec. 17 in Denison and Dec. 21 in Waterloo.

The Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy was developed in response to the 2008 Gulf Hypoxia Action Plan that calls for the 12 states along the Mississippi River to develop strategies to reduce nutrient loading to the Gulf of Mexico. The Iowa strategy followed the recommended framework provided by the EPA. Iowa is the second state to complete a statewide nutrient reduction strategy.
