Long-time journalist and political activist Bill Kunerth will be remembered by friends and foes alike. Kunerth taught journalism at Iowa State for 31 years (1957-88) and continued to live in Ames until 2004. He was a champion of the First Amendment and fought to ensure that universities and state agencies abided by the Iowa open meetings and records laws.

Friends, family and students are invited to attend and share their thoughts and memories about the former Greenlee professor.

The Kunerth tribute is part of a university-wide celebration known as First Amendment Day. First Amendment Day recognizes the value of the five freedoms granted in the U.S. Constitution. It is sponsored by Lee Enterprises and the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication.
