The juror will be Brian Roberts.Raised on a farm in southwestern Iowa, Brian is intimately acquainted with the cycles of growth and change in the agricultural field that can be universally applied to the cycle of life. His artwork from jewelry to large sculpture draws heavily on his agrarian background. Brian received a B.A. from Central College in 1992, a M.A. in Art Education from Iowa State University in 1997, and two M.F.A.s from Miami University of Ohio, in 2001 (Sculpture) and 2002 (Metalsmithing). Brian is an Associate Professor of Art at Central College teaching glassblowing, metalsmithing, sculpture, and ceramics courses. He lives with his wife and son on a small acreage near Pella where he has been reviving the old farm buildings.
Roberts will choose up to 40 pieces to be included in the exhibit as well as pick cash award winners.
