"Mesmerization and Magnificence of Magnetism," by Bruce Harmon, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of physics and astronomy. The lecture portion of the Osborn Club's monthly gathering is open to the public.

Members of the club are active researchers within the natural or physical sciences. Club members meet monthly (September through Ma) for a program consisting of a social period, appetizers and presentation of a research lecture.

Nov. 9 abstract:
Besides pointing north and holding papers on refrigerators, magnets are essential for electric motors and generators. They provide an invisible force field that has fascinated humans from ancient times. After warning about anyone 'selling' magnetism, Harmon will 'sell' some highlights of recent work investigating a fascinating material in magnetic fields 10 million times stronger than the Earth's.
