What's Wrong with the Perseus Arm? (Dr. Charles Kerton, Iowa State University

Recent VLBI studies of the distribution of high-mass star-forming regions in the Milky Way have revealed an unexpected lack of massive star-formation activity along a 6 kpc extent of the Perseus Arm. This talk will discuss our changing picture of this important structural feature of the Milky Way starting with early HI and OB-star surveys up to the recent BeSSeL and VERA projects.
