As artist in residence at Iowa State, Christian Petersen absorbed the campus environment and student experiences and reflected them back through his numerous public works of art and smaller studio sculptures. One subject that had a profound impact on his art was World War II, as he watched how it affected his students. On the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and subsequent U.S. declaration of war, we will tour WWII thematic artwork.

See sculptures, drawings, and maquettes by Christian Petersen that emphasize the tragedy and moral struggle of wartime.
