Eight sites on the ISU campus are listed in the National Register of Historic Places, including the Farm House Museum and the Christian Petersen Courtyard in the Food Sciences Building. Ted Grevstad-Nordbrock, assistant professor in Community and Regional Planning, will discuss the significance of this act and the impact it has on the contemporary application of historic preservation initiatives.

The National Historic Preservation Act was signed into law on October 15, 1966, and 50 years later is still the most extensive preservation legislation ever enacted in the United States. The NHPA created the National Register of Historic Places, the list of National Historic Landmarks, and the State Historic Preservation Offices.
