I will present the results of studies of spin fluctuations and related effects in metallic systems obtained in our group. Spatial and time scales of spin density fluctuations were obtained in 3d metals using first ab initio linear response calculations of complete wavevector and energy dependence of the dynamic spin susceptibility tensor. In addition a result of corresponding time dependent Pauli equation spin dynamics will be provided. A validity of the adiabatic approximation in spin dynamics will be discussed and examples of strong non-adiabatic effects given. Our analysis of full spin fluctuations spectra allows for the first time provides a realistic test behind usual assumptions in both different spin fluctuations theories and interpretations of related spin dynamical experiments. I will show new generic spin excitations and universal concentration dependence of spin correlator in 3d metals and discuss how different scales scattering experiments can test predicted quantum spin dynamic effects. The results of influence of spin fluctuations on physical properties of applied magnets (phase diagrams, magnetization, anisotropy) will be presented as well.
