Sample and purchase wines from some of Iowa's best wineries. There will be lots of delicious Iowa snacks available for sampling and purchase. Listen to festive music, perfect for a winter's Friday evening. This is an adult event only, and you must be 21 years old or older to attend.

Sixteen Iowa middle school teams will compete in this regional event, one of 45 being held across the country. The competition began Feb. 24. The winning team receives a paid trip to the U.S. Department of Energy's National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C.

Varieties has been showcasing the talent of Iowa State students for more than 80 years. Performances consist of 18-20 minute "mini-musicals" that are performed with original lyrics and choreography. Shorter acts, called vignettes, perform as well. A vignette consists of any talent that a student may have, from belly dancing to stand-up comedy. In this way, Varieties serves as Iowa State University's student talent show!

You will leave this class with all the knowledge and resources you will need to start experimenting with your own soilless growing system at home.
