Bead-Weaving Workshop
Weaving tiny seed beads is a fun skill and not as complicated as it looks. Create intricate patterns on dangly earrings and pendants that are beautiful and ready to wear when you walk out of class.
Super Hero Cross Stitch Workshop
Ka-Pow! Characters from DC and Marvel Comics will be pixilated into patterns that you will learn to read and follow. Choose your favorite hero team and get the hang of working with a needle and thread for stitching. Thwip! Snikt! Bamf!
Pastel Painting Class
In this 4-week course taught by artist, Yvonne Brune, you'll work with oil pastels as well as soft pastels on a variety of papers that can add texture or color to your painting.

Youth Program: Plant Pals
Join us and cultivate a real garden at Reiman Gardens. We will learn about and grow lots of vegetables, pumpkins, tomatoes and sunflowers, as well as beautiful flowers. Each session has hands-on activities to interact with all the wonderful plants that we enjoy and eat. Classes are great for kids of all ages to participate in with an adult. Classes are held every other Thursday from May 7 to September 10.
Paint Your Own Pottery: Garden Gnomes
"Painting" bisque is a fun and relaxing activity that can be done solo or with a group of friends. From 3 inch minis to a foot tall "Ginormagnome," find a friend to guard your summer garden. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select.
Walk-In Craft: Henna Tattoos
Create temporary body art with henna. Bring a friend and "tattoo" each other, or draw designs on your own skin. Sample designs are available for inspiration, along with tips and tricks for best application methods.
Intro to Social Dance Class
This is a 6 week course on Thursdays beginning June 25, July 2, July 9, July 16, July 23, and July 30 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In this 6-week course, you'll learn a variety of social dances in a beautiful garden setting, from one of the best instructors Ames has to offer! No experience necessary.

Cyclical: New Works by Kristin Roach Exhibition Opening Reception
Opening reception for an exhibition by Ames multimedia artist Kristin Roach. The show features eight wall-hanging sculptures constructed of beeswax-infused crocheted wool that Roach created based on her experience of pregnancy, birth and postpartum recovery; and a site-specific sculpture inspired by studies of epilepsy and trends in neurobiology. Roach will give an artist's talk at 8 p.m. followed by a Q&A session.

Family Activity: Discovery Stations
Drop by for fun, informal activities in the Gardens during the summer that relate to themed garden areas. Discovery Stations are family oriented and designed so both youth and adults can participate in the activities. Each discovery station focuses on a corresponding educational activity and/or garden display, as well as interpretation of the 2015theme: "Celebrating the Past & the Future." Visitors can stop by any time to participate.
Belly Dance Workshop: Developing Choreography
Shiara is well-known for her music interpretation and interesting use of body accents in her dancing. Take a look at the creative process and how she develops choreography as you explore a piece of music together and talk about how the movements were chosen. Afterwards, students will learn the dance routine that they've been exploring, analyzing and discussing. This is an intermediate level class.

Argentine Tango
This Milonga is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for dancing better. From 5-7pm the dance floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie and working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time. Wear dancing shoes, smooth-soled shoes, or socks.

Sentinel Plant Network First Detector Training
Reiman Gardens' staff will take you through the steps to become a certified First Detector, in the ever-increasing effort to detect and diagnose "high-consequence" pests and pathogens, such as the emerald ash borer and the Asian long-horned beetle.

Kids' Story Time
Each session features a theme with two or three books read aloud followed by a related craft or activity. The books, crafts and activities are intended for children ages two to seven years old. All children must be accompanied by an adult. This class is held every other Tuesday from May 12 through August 18.
