Leadership Workshop Series: Empowering Others to Lead
The Leaders Workshop Series is an opportunity for you to build up your leadership skills from the inside out. During these workshops, you will have the opportunity to engage in activities and discussions that will help you establish your personal values, learn some tips and tricks on how to build a common purpose and community, as well as strategies for empowering your members to lead.

Lecture: Can You Be Born a Couch Potato?
"Can You Be Born a Couch Potato? The Genetics of Physical Activity." Pease Family Scholar in Kinesiology J. Timothy Lightfoot directs the Huffines Institute for Sports Medicine and Human Performance at Texas A&M University, where his research focuses on the genetics of daily physical activity and exercise endurance.

Concert: Flutist Anthony Trionfo
Praised for his "spellbinding" performances with "authoritative intellect" by the Santa Barbara Voice after his performance of the Jolivet Concerto with the Music Academy of the West Festival Orchestra, young flutist Anthony Trionfo will make his recital debuts on the Young Concert Artists Series at the Kennedy Center as well as in New York City's Merkin Concert Hall in Spring 2018.
SUB Comedy Night: Amanda Seales
Formerly known by her stage name Amanda Diva, Amanda Seales is a comedian, actress, DJ, recording artist and radio personality. Aside from her solo career, she was also a touring member of the musical group Floetry.

Pumpkin Carving
Monday through Friday, October 16-20 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Join Reiman Gardens anytime Monday through Friday for a spooky good time and help us carve pumpkins. The 650 pumpkins will then go on display as lit jack-o-lanterns for our Jack-O-Lantern Walk, a part of our Spirits in the Gardens event, on Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22.

Participants will learn how to design courses in Canvas, facilitate easy and intuitive course navigation and pace instruction. This workshop will highlight the mechanics and pedagogy behind Homepage, Syllabus, Content Pages and Modules in Canvas. Participants will learn about best practices for creating, organizing and structuring content in Canvas courses.

Sarah Huffman, Assistant Director of the CCE, and Graduate writing consultants will talk to the ThinkSpace Learning Community about best practices for developing writing skills in students from lab and field journals to job materials to advanced dissertations and research writing.

Open house: Ames Municipal Airport
The Ames Municipal Airport Modernization project is a multiphased improvement plan that includes a new airport hangar and terminal. The project is a private-public partnership that includes investments by the City of Ames, Iowa State University, the Ames Economic Development Commission, and the Ames business community. A ribbon-cutting and short program will be held at 9:30 a.m.

All are welcome to join in the spooky fun by attending in costume. As part of a new display, see 650 carved pumpkins lit against the evening sky while here.
Concert: Dance Scholarship Gala
The annual Dance Scholarship Gala Concert features Orchesis I student dancers, local dance artists and the San Francisco-based Deborah Slater Dance Theater. Proceeds from the event benefit the ISU Dance Scholarship fund for dance majors and minors. Tickets are available at the door.
