Art + Issues - Building a Campus Community
Art + Issues is an open campus discussion facilitated by our educator of visual literacy and learning. Topics that relate to current events will be presented and attendees are encouraged to bring other discussion topics with them with a goal of generating understanding in a safe, inclusive, and inspiring space. People are invited to come and go during the two hour time frame as their schedule permits.
Retirement reception: Norm Scott
Norm Scott, associate professor of psychology, is retiring.
Lecture: Crop bioengineering
"Defining, Improving, and Changing the Specificities of CRISPR-Cas Nucleases." Professor J. Keith Joung, Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, will describe research advances that are broadening the range of applications for CRISPR-Cas nucleases, improving the precision of these reagents, and enabling better elaboration of these technologies. Sponsored by the Crop Bioengineering Consortium.
SHIFT Installation Opening Reception
Opening reception for a design-build installation by the spring 2016 second-year architecture studios. The permanent outdoor public space integrates both seating and places for play at Reliable Street artists' collective in Ames. At night it will be illuminated by an architectural light display powered by a solar-panel system donated by Ames company PowerFilm.

CODAC Spring Sale
Biannual sale of work by students in the integrated studio arts and integrated visual arts programs, sponsored by CODAC (College of Design Art Club). Work this year may include ceramics, prints, photos, jewelry, woods and textiles. Most items will range in price from $5 to $150. The sale continues Thursday and Friday, April 27 and 28.
Rossmann Manatt Lecture
"Securing Health and Education: Hopes and Realities of Iowa Latino Immigrant Families," Kimberly Greder, associate professor of human development and family studies, and the 2016-17 recipient of the Rossmann Manatt faculty development award.
