Plant and Flower Drawing Class

This is a 6 week course on Thursdays May 21, May 28, June 4, June 11, June 18, and June 25 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. This six-week beginner course will introduce how to use plants as the subject of art with easy approaches and successive lessons.

Cost: Preregistration is required. Cost is $72 for members and $90 for the general public.

Rock Gardens and Their Plants Class

Master Gardener Gary Whittenbaugh of Fran Mara Garden in Oelwein believes the most complete and triumphant expression of gardening may be the rock garden. This is epically true if you include a few miniature and the smaller dwarf conifers. Rock gardens give us almost limitless plant choices and a long blooming season unequaled by any other type of garden. Don't miss this presentation - once you start rock gardening, you won't be able to stop.

Cost: Preregistration is required. Class is $12 for members and $15 for the general public.

Lecture: Iowa State and a World at War

World War II brought military training and war-related research to the Iowa State campus. History professor Douglas Biggs (University of Nebraska-Kearney) will discuss how the war accentuated Iowa State's transition to a nationally known college of science, engineering and technology.

Cost: $3 free-will donation requested at door
