Lecture: The World's Most Resilient City
Architect and ISU College of Design Rome Program instructor Tom Rankin will discuss ways in which Rome has, over two millennia, provided examples of sustainable urban design practices, and will highlight innovative public space projects, experiments in urban agriculture, car-free neighborhoods and extreme water conditions to help make Rome's history relevant to designers today.

Branding: Who Are You?
ISU integrated studio arts alumnus Jonathan Castro is a ceramic designer who lives and works in New York City. He attributes many opportunities and successes to the skills and business acumen he developed at Iowa State. He'll talk about the importance and process of branding oneself in the marketplace. Castro is an artist-in-residence Sept. 25-29 in the College of Design.

Electroacoustic Improvisations
Composer and sound artist Scott L. Miller will join saxophonist and Iowa State University faculty member Michael Giles for a one-hour performance of improvisatory electronic chamber music followed by a catered reception. Part of the 2017 Lipa Festival of Electroacoustic and Visual Music.
