Engineering Community Outreach will host the FIRST® LEGO® League state championship for students ages 9 to 14 years on campus. The competition began Jan. 19.
Ever wondered how not to destroy these peculiar and wildly exotic flowers?
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm, moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for better dancing. From 5-7pm, the floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie Williams, and for working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.
Crazy Rich Asians is a PG-13 comedy-drama rated 4.5 stars. Watch a complicated love story unfold between the extremely wealthy Nick Young and econ professor, Rachel Chu. Refreshments and snacks available at extra charge.

Personalized learning is the type of instruction that targets individual student's needs. How does personalized learning look like in Canvas? Upon completion, participants will be able to do the following:
Get your hands dirty and make beautiful things! Start with centering clay and pulling cylinders, the building blocks to throwing on the wheel. Move on to forming bowls, mugs, vases and plates, and learn handle-pulling, glazing and finishing techniques. Open to beginners as well as those with experience who would like to improve their skills.
The Faculty Senate represents the general faculty of Iowa State and participates in shared governance of the University with the administration. Senate meetings are open to the public.
Learn the fundamentals of woodworking equipment while creating a tool carrier. Leave class with knowledge of proper machinery use, and, most importantly, woodshop safety. Students may purchase the toolbox for $6 after class or we will use them for our Art Mart fundraiser. The orientation is required in order to use the woodshop on your own.
Open mic night gives students the chance to show off their talents to fellow peers. Many perform as musicians, comedians, and poets. Enjoy a night full of talented Iowa State Students. (Sign Up starts at 7:30 p.m. until all spots are filled)

Move over tie-dye, there's a new trend in town. Use fiber reactive dyes and ice to create a watercolor effect for a pair of socks, scarf or leggings. By simply scrunching the fabric and adding dye, beautiful color combinations will develop. Dyed items will sit in dye overnight, so you'll need to stop back to pick up your finished piece.

Join us for Iowa State's university-wide celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year's program features keynote speaker Ron Stallworth, whose extraordinary story of being a black detective who infiltrates the Ku Klux Klan is the subject of Spike Lee's recent movie BlacKkKlansman.
Pete's joyful humor comes from his Midwestern roots. Pete Lee was the first standup comedian to get a standing ovation on The Tonight Show and has appeared on the show various times within the past year. Currently, Pete is a cast member of TruTV's Greatest Ever and he hosts his own segment on Nickelodeon's Nick Toons, in co-ordination with the NFL, called NFL Rush.

Award-Winning Faculty Series: Solutions for Disparate Disciplines: Using researched-based changes to improve learning in your classroom (Tom Holme)
What measurements are "doable" for understanding how students in your classroom are learning? When you obtain concrete, actionable information, what practical changes can you make to effect learning? How are these methods scalable for large classrooms, student readiness for the next course in the sequence, and adapted to different fields of study?
Jae Hwa Lee, assistant professor of interior design, will present results of a five-year research project that examined learning outcomes from a pair of interdisciplinary courses on creativity offered by a new undergraduate program at a university in the southeastern US. Part of the IDRO Friday Research Seminar Series.
