CANCELED: Research workshop: Integrating Societal Impacts into Your Proposal, Career and Research Identity
Learn how to build a broader impacts effort in the context of your research. This workshop, presented by the Grants Hub and the NSF-funded Center for Advancing Research Impacts in Society (ARIS Center), will help participants understand the broader impacts criterion, develop and incorporate strong BI plans into grant proposals, and identify local partners and resources. There will be some emphasis on NSF CAREER proposals.
The quiz set up in Canvas depends on the purpose with which the assessment is administered. Upon completion, participants will be able to do the following:
Jacob Harrison leads the 80-member ISU Symphony Orchestra in a narrated program showcasing the various orchestral instruments and identifying musical motifs in Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. ISU carillonneur Tin-Shi Tam will also demonstrate and discuss ISU's model carillon as part of this special performance.
March is the perfect time to plant cool season vegetables and start many seeds indoors for early spring planting.
How do students learn best in your discipline? Where can you publish the way you solved instructional problems? You are invited to share and discuss DBER journal articles, seek feedback as you begin designing your own educational research projects, and form collaborations with participants from other disciplines.

Part V: Creating Your Diversity Statement

This will be a great opportunity to hear from Miller Open Education Mini-Grant recipients about their experiences with OER and to ask questions about their processes.
Part VI: Enhancing Your Networking Skills
Shape a band of copper into a thin cuff to slide on your wrist before you raise your fist. Use letter stamps to hammer in an inspiring word or short phrase that is a reminder of past achievements of women and our contemporary heroines.

Join us weekly this winter for our popular Early Childhood Development program featuring stories and creative activities around a nature-based theme.
"Good Class Bad Class: Intentions vs. actions in classroom teaching," D. Raj Raman, Morrill Professor, Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, reflects on the parallels between student motivation, which is well recognized as crucial for student success, and instructor motivation (and bandwidth). This event was rescheduled from its original date of Jan. 31, 2019.
Associate provost Dawn Bratsch-Prince and vice president for research Sarah Nusser will lead a presentation for new tenure-eligible faculty on what makes a successful promotion and tenure case. Register by March 5.
Join us for a panel discussion on the impact of OER in the classroom. Miller Open Education Mini-Grant recipients will share the benefits and challenges of making the switch to OER and why they chose to apply for the grant. Participants will leave the workshop with plans for incorporating OER into their courses and a pathway to making their classes more affordable.
The P&S Council is a representative body elected by, and responsible to, Professional and Scientific employees at Iowa State University. Meetings are open to the public.
Part VII: Improving Your Interviewing Skills
6-week course on Thursdays beginning March 7, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. Photoshop CC is a powerful, yet complex photo editing tool to learn. And, as a photographer, who has time to learn how to use it?
Former Canadian diplomat Colin Robertson is now vice president and fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute. Robertson will speak about the relationship beyond the Beltway and offer some perspectives on how it can continue to mutually benefit both nations.

Xiuhtezcatl Martinez is an 18-year-old indigenous climate activist, hip-hop artist, and a voice on the front lines of a global youth-led environmental movement. This event was rescheduled from Nov.r 1.
