Bonsai Show
October 6, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and October 7, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Please join us at Reiman Gardens for the annual bonsai exhibit in conjunction with the Iowa Bonsai Association. Bonsai, an ancient Asian art form that weds horticulture and art, is a rapidly growing and popular passion in the west.
Ames Art Studio Tour
The College of Design is one of 13 stops on the Ames Community Arts Council Studio Tour. The College of Design will feature open studios in ceramics, printmaking, textiles, woods, metals, photography, digital media and painting. Students will be available to display current works and talk to the public about what they are learning.

Developing Empathy: The Refugee Experience
Held in the exhibition Unpacked: Refugee Baggage, participants will be facilitated in making contemporary connections to the refugee experience using the reflective model developed by the civics education organization, Facing History and Ourselves.
Performance: This is Not a Pipe Dream
Inspired by the life and work of surrealist painter Rene Magritte, the play by Barry Kornhauser follows a young boy who wants to be an artist. Though his desire is dismissed by his father as "a pipe dream," he is encouraged by his mother and begins a quest into the delightfully absurd magic-realism of Magritte's famous paintings.

Walk-in Argentine Tango
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm, moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for better dancing. From 5-7pm, the floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie Williams, and for working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.

Incredibles 2 - The family of superheroes is back but this time Helen is in the spotlight, leaving Bob at home with Violet and Dash to navigate the day-to-day heroics of "normal" life. It's a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack's emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone must find a way to work together again.
