Student Panel: First Amendment, Student Activism and Campus Climate
Student activists representing Students Against Racism, the International Student Council, Monsoon Asians and Pacific Islanders in Solidarity, Graduate and Professional Student Senate, and the Iowa State Daily will share their experiences in mobilizing others on campus to create change. They will also discuss the challenge of dealing with hateful speech and share ways more students can get involved. A First Amendment Days event.

ISCORE Encore Presentation: Activism in the Music Industry
When we think of the First Amendment and the power of protest, we may not immediately think of music. In this Depth & Dialogue session, ISU student Durga Sritharan shares why we should. Find out how music is one of the most powerful forms of expression, providing an avenue for several centuries for underrepresented individuals and groups to express their voices, thoughts, and emotions. Lecture: Think Like a Journalist with Andrea Sahouri
Des Moines Register reporter Andrea Sahouri was covering a Black Lives Matter protest when a Des Moines police officer arrested her. She and others made it clear she was a journalist, but prosecutors refused to drop the charges. After a 3-day jury trial, Sahouri was acquitted in under two hours. Sahouri will share her harrowing story, talk about the importance of a free press and answer questions. A First Amendment Days event.

During last summer's Black Lives Matter protests in Washington, D.C., journalist and Ames native Will Fowler, a science writer for WE&T, and freelance journalist and editor, headed to the streets. At first intending to observe the demonstrations as a reporter, he quickly became involved with the movement directly. Can a reporter become so entangled in a story that remaining objective becomes impossible? A First Amendment Days event.

Cyclone Voice
Pop/hip-hop musician Gnash will host Iowa State University's annual singing competition, Cyclone Voice. The event will feature 14 ISU students vying to become the next Cyclone Voice. Doors will open by 6:30 p.m.
