Free dance lesson: "Dance for the Health of It"
Two 15-minute dance sessions (noon and 12:15 p.m.) coordinated by the Campus Community Partnership for Health during Homecoming Week (Oct. 13, 14, 15), with a different style of dance each day. ISU student dance clubs also will perform.
Tuesday Tea at the Farm House Museum
Come to the Farm House Museum to enjoy tea and conversation. Mark your calendar from Noon to 1:00 pm each Tuesday this month (Oct. 6th, 13th, 20, 27th) and enjoy the 150 year old structure in a whole new way. After tea, all are welcome to join a guided tour that will highlight different topics each week, including Victorian music and entertainment, women's work through the years, Victorian dining, and more.

Video Podcasting
This class looks at creating a simple video podcast by editing a lecture-type video presentation and adding Powerpoint-style inserts, using superimposed lower third text, inserting computer screen snapshots plus adding titles/credits. "Sowing the Seeds of Victory Gardens: Then and Now," historian Rose Hayden-Smith, University of California. Hayden-Smith is a nationally recognized expert on victory gardens, wartime food policies and school garden programs

Iowa State faculty will share their research contributing to the current debate on economic recovery. Participants include Peter Orazem, ISU economics; David Peters, ISU sociology; David Frankel, ISU economics.
Lecture: Engineers managing natural hazards
"The Role of Engineers in Managing Risks from Natural Hazards," Robert Gilbert, University of Texas, Austin. Topics will include establishing goals, mitigating consequences, considering system effects, including physical factors in statistical models, avoiding both too much and too little conservatism, maximizing the value of information, and communicating effectively to decision makers and the public.
