Watercolors in the Garden: The figure in the landscape
Join Jo Myers-Walker of the Left Bank Studio in Gilbert, Iowa as she teaches a series of ten classes on watercolors while being inspired by the surrounding gardens. Classes will focus on the figure in the landscape taking inspiration from tree and bonsai. Participants will get to showcase their art during the Bonsai Show on Saturday, October 8th. Tuesday Tea: Health and Beauty in Victorian Days
Come to the Farm House Museum to enjoy tea and conversation about all things Farm House. Mark your calendar from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm and enjoy the 150 year old structure in a whole new way. Ian Bogost, a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, is an award-winning videogame designer and media philosopher. His games cover such diverse topics as airport security and tort reform. Part of the Technology, Globalization, and Culture Series.
Piled Higher and Deeper: The PhD Movie
This film adaptation of the popular online comic strip Piled Higher and Deeper by Jorge Cham introduces audiences to the unique and funny culture of academia. Filmed on location at the California Institute of Technology, it follows four graduate students as they struggle to find balance between research, teaching and their personal lives. A discussion with Jorge Cham will immediately follow the 67-minute film.
